Surgery
Laser surgery and cryotherapy are performed in the office, as well as repair of small, localized retinal detachments. Retinal detachment and vitreous surgery are performed in the outpatient surgery center, usually as same-day surgery. Thus, the procedure is still considered "outpatient," but includes a period for observation and recuperation after the procedure in the controlled setting of the surgery center.
